In August 2002, while scanning the Horse & Pony section of the local Buy-Sell-Exchange Newspaper, my eyes fell upon an advertisement for the sale of a Shetland Pony. It wasn't long before Rockisle Gypsy Gem, a cute, hairy little piebald filly, full of personality, was tucked away safely in our paddock. Aaron and I competed in the summer shows with Gypsy and were inspired so much by this wonderful breed of pony that we decided to start up Shelyron Stud.
2010 Update: We have had a wonderful year at Shelyron, firstly with the safe arrival of our beautiful daughter Bianca who is already showing an interest in all animals and had already sat on her first pony by the time she was six months! Thornberry produced yet another lovely filly foal for us and we were lucky enough to be able to purchase Shelyron Aphrodite back and put her into our breeding program this year. We were delighted to see Monique James win the Shetland Pony of the Year award, Youngstock of the Year, 2 year old for the year and Best Presented for the year with Shelyron Brambleberry and Fiona McLaughlan win runner-up 3 year old of the year with Shelyron Blueberry. On top of all this we are expecting four foals this year and are very excited to see the first of Napoleon's progeny born.

Mindy as she's known at home has been a successfully shown mare in her time. She has been retired to the broodmare paddock for a few years now and has produced some lovely foals including Rockisle Gypsy Gem above Shelyron Aphrodite and Shelyron Black Coal. She is an asset to our stud and is a pleasure to own.

Napoleon is a beautifully put together colt with a spunky personalilty and look at me attitude. Cotswold Musketeer has now been sold to Christine Calder of Bulls in the North Island and Riverdowns Chocoholic to Geraldine Edgar of Southland so we have retained Napoleon as our new stallion prospect and he is maturing into a wonderful looking boy.
