Shetland Pony Field Day Stud Visit 2003

A good turnout of people from as far away as Ohoka to Waikouaiti met for a relaxed winter

Andrea Price's Beachgrove Stud

Two foals were branded by Diana Humphries and following morning tea (wonderful chocolate and Raspberry Jam muffins made by Richard) we spent time with some friendly Shetland mares and Stallion.

'You need plenty of winter woollies on at this time of year'

Birchland Stud owned by Muriel Peck

Where we all enjoyed a fantastic lunch of soup, bread rolls, savouries, queches and two superb pavlovas. This was followed by a heavenly stroll around paddocks of ponies, which was just as well considering the amount of food most of us consumed. The weather for the day though very cold at first brightened and a watery sun did its best to counter the predicted forecast.

Some of the ponies on view are below.

Reluctantly after Tea, coffee and even more food and chatter we all set off for homes with many remarking that we will have to do it again.
