Friday 16th November, from 3.10 to 3.25.

Sam is an 8 year old, 10hh brown/black pony who started steeple chasing in 2003. He has completed in one-day events, and regularly goes to pony club. Sam is a stayer and has been known to surprise. - Hawk Wing (Cotswold HawkWing) Sponsored by Sandow Riding School
He is a solid skewbald, about 9.1hh and is easily identified as he paws the ground at the start of the race - it's all talk though as he would rather just canter around slowly and conserve his energy. Foxy is a tall skewbald standing at full height (10.2hh). The thoroughbred of shetlands. Lost by a nose at Canterbury last year. - Archie (Cotswold Archdale) Sponsored by Glendale Welsh Stud
Archie is a 10 year old Dun Skewbald gelding of solid build, winner of the Canterbury Steeplechase last year, and known for his 'cheating' tactics and large waistline! - C.J. (Mainland Cracker Jack) Sponsored by Simon McLachlan Fencing
C.J. is a full height, lazy, black harness pony with a wicked sense of humour. When C.J. is ridden out he is a reliable choice for punters. - Horace (Narrandera Foulton) Sponsored by Saddlery Warehouse
Horace is a little black gelding and the veteran of the field - this is his 2nd steeplechase. He has been attending pony club for many, many years. Last year Horace filled minor placings in both events. - Poppy (Rose-eyre Poppy) Sponsored by Rangiora Veterinary Centre
Poppy is a lovely piebald mare who has been retired to the broodmare paddock for a few years, in between racing. Her one season steeplechasing produced one win and one last placing. - Stormy (Beechgrove Storm Cloud) Sponsored by Corcoran French
Stormy stands at approximately 10hh. He is a fiesty black gelding and this will be his first steeplechase season. His full sister blitzed the field in 2005, so he could be the one to watch. - Tammish (Cotswold Tammish) Sponsored by Mazline Partsworld
Stormy's mother - and she jumps metre high fences! What more can we say! This will be her first steeplechase if she stays in the ring! She is an unknown quantity so could be at long odds. - Max (Cotswold Maxwell) Sponsored by Tara Homestay, Oamaru
Max is a cute little black pony competing for the first year. He is broken to harness and his pre-race preparation has included competing in pony club and show jumping events against 17hh hunters.
